Chapter 142: Dark-hearted little sister, touching the minefield!
After the mother sat down, a little girl in a white floral dress ran out from the hallway of the bedroom.
This was Li Xiaoming's younger sister, named Li Xiaodie.
In his notes, Li Xiaoming's attitude towards his sister was also one of disdain, but there wasn't much description of her feelings towards him.
She pulled out a chair and sat next to Qin Nuo, obediently picking up a knife and fork. She turned her head and gave Qin Nuo a sweet smile, "Brother, I finished my homework on time tonight!"
Qin Nuo felt a bit puzzled.
Why tell him about finishing homework? Shouldn't she be telling her parents?
Could it be that Li Xiaoming was responsible for supervising her homework? That didn't seem likely.
"Oh, and then?" Qin Nuo asked indifferently, picking up a dish that looked like skewered meat with his fork.
It looked quite good, but once he chewed it, it was tough and sour. He couldn't tell what kind of meat it was.
In truth, if given a choice, Qin Nuo wouldn't want to touch any of the dishes on the table, even if they appeared normal. But for the sake of playing his part, Qin Nuo tried a piece.
After swallowing a piece of meat, perhaps it was psychological, but Qin Nuo felt uncomfortable, even nauseous. He cleverly avoided the meat dishes afterward, only picking vegetables to fill his bowl.
"Brother, there are a few questions I don't understand. Could you come to my room later and help me?" Li Xiaodie asked cheerfully, seemingly enjoying sticking close to her brother, despite Qin Nuo's cold demeanor.
Qin Nuo frowned.
Just as he was about to speak, his mother interrupted while picking up some food, "Do your own homework, don't bother your brother."
She shot Li Xiaodie a cold glance.
Li Xiaodie stuck out her tongue and continued eating her rice without saying anything.
The mother picked up a dish, leaned over to Qin Nuo, and used chopsticks to place food into his bowl, smiling, "Try this dish, it's your favorite. You must be tired from school, so I made it just for you!"
It looked like a plate of Mapo tofu, garnished with green onions, appearing delicious and appetizing.
But Qin Nuo poked the tofu with his chopsticks. It looked tender, as if it would melt in his mouth, but he felt it wasn't the kind of tofu he was thinking of.
Qin Nuo swallowed, not really wanting to eat it.
"What’s wrong? This is your favorite dish. Don't you like it? This isn't like you." His mother looked at Qin Nuo with a doting smile, implying she wouldn't sit back down until he ate it.
With no choice, Qin Nuo took a piece mixed with rice and put it into his mouth.
The tofu was indeed tender, like double-skin milk, with a nice texture, but it didn't taste like tofu, which was strange. Qin Nuo couldn't quite describe it.
Seeing Qin Nuo swallow it, his mother finally smiled contentedly and sat back down.
Across the table, Li Xiaodong watched with eyes blazing, biting the fork in his mouth until it was reduced to metal shards, making a crunching sound between his teeth.
Qin Nuo couldn't help but glance at his mother.
He noticed her eyes were only on him, filled with affection.
Why was she only doting on Li Xiaoming? Wasn't this mother a bit biased?
Qin Nuo wondered to himself.
The dinner was strange and awkward.
His father took a bite of food, then gulped down a bottle of bright red wine, glaring murderously at his wife.
The wife, on the other hand, stared straight at Qin Nuo, occasionally placing food into his bowl, her eyes full of maternal love.
The second son glared at his older brother as if he were an enemy.
The younger sister clung to Qin Nuo like a leech, eager for her big brother's affection.
By the end of the meal, Qin Nuo didn't even know what he had eaten. Whatever his mother placed in front of him, he symbolically took a small bite.
After the meal, his father dragged his chair back to a dark corner, pulled out a new newspaper from a drawer, and continued reading, covering his face.
His mother cleared the dishes from the table and instructed Qin Nuo, "The water is ready. After your bath, go back to your room and finish your homework, okay?"
With that, she carried the dishes into the kitchen.
Li Xiaodong silently ran back to his room.
Li Xiaodie jumped off her chair, picked up her textbooks in the living room, and tilted her head, asking, "Brother, can't you really help me?"
Qin Nuo, with a look of impatience, said, "I said I'm busy, get lost!"
Li Xiaodie didn't show any sign of disappointment, simply saying, "Okay," and returned to her room.
"Congratulations, Player, for completing the role-playing standard at the dinner table, increasing your role-playing degree by 7%!"
Qin Nuo adjusted his glasses, thinking to himself, "Understanding the role I play with those around me, gaining role-playing points doesn't seem too difficult."
He didn't care how bad the family conflicts were. As long as he played Li Xiaoming well and seamlessly became part of the family without them noticing, that was enough.
Li Xiaoming was obedient to his mother.
So Qin Nuo went back to his room, found his clothes, and headed to the bathroom for a hot shower.
The door to the room across opened again.
Li Xiaodie stood at the door, seeing Qin Nuo hadn't closed his, and asked, "Brother, can I come in?"
"Don't come in, or I'll break your legs," Qin Nuo reprimanded without turning his head.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Hearing this, Li Xiaodie could only stand at the door, smiling, "Brother is going to take a bath, right? So obedient to mom."
"Mom seems to only love brother, not me or second brother. She never gives us food or tells us to take a bath, just like brother, she doesn't let us into her room."
"But I just want to have a good relationship with brother, why does brother treat me like this?" Li Xiaodie's little face didn't show any sadness, just confusion.
Qin Nuo paused.
Honestly, if it weren't for playing Li Xiaoming, he would be confused too.
He even felt a bit sorry for Li Xiaodie.
This girl was only seven or eight years old, yet she was rejected by her family, seemingly isolated by everyone.
In such an environment, it's likely that Li Xiaodie's psyche would become severely twisted, becoming like Li Xiaoming, or even worse.
Li Xiaodie continued, "Mom must have prepared hot water for brother, so lucky. Brother, be careful when you bathe, the floor is slippery."
Qin Nuo grabbed his clothes, frowning, "Stop nagging, shut up, okay?"
With that, he took his pajamas and left the room, rudely closing the door, pushing Li Xiaodie aside, and entered the bathroom.
"Brother, there's a hairdryer next to the bathtub, be careful. I saw on TV that someone got electrocuted when a hairdryer fell into the bathtub."
"They flailed around in the tub and then stopped moving, it was so interesting!" Li Xiaodie continued to shout from behind.
Qin Nuo's face twitched slightly.
Was this girl cursing him to die?
Ignoring her, he entered the bathroom, locked the door, took off his clothes, and looked at his child-like reflection in the mirror, muttering, "Being this small is really a bit uncomfortable."
Then, he glanced down and shook his head, "Little elephant trunk, also uncomfortable."
After washing his hair, Qin Nuo looked at the bathtub already filled with water, tested the temperature, and lay down.
Comfortable!
Qin Nuo couldn't help but relax his whole body, letting out a long sigh.
Li Xiaodie's words echoed in his mind, and he couldn't help but glance at the hairdryer hanging on the wall, feeling uneasy.
After pondering for a moment, Qin Nuo decided to stand up and take down the hairdryer, planning to toss it aside.
As soon as he stepped out of the tub, his foot slipped on the soapy water on the floor.
His body tilted sharply, and his head was about to hit the sharp corner of the sink!
Qin Nuo's expression changed, instinctively closing his eyes. To his relief, when he opened them, he found the corner stopped a few centimeters from his eye.
Qin Nuo broke out in a cold sweat, looking back to see his right hand's fingers embedded in the wall like a spear, holding him up.
The Blood-Eyed Ghost said calmly, "If you died in the bathroom, that would be the most pathetic way to go!"
Qin Nuo steadied himself, wiping his sweat, "Blame that damn girl, what a jinx."
The bathroom door suddenly knocked, and Li Xiaodie's voice came through, filled with excitement and impatience, "Brother, you seem to have fallen, are you still alive? Do you need your sister to come in and help?"
Damn, this girl must be seriously ill!
Always hoping her brother would die?
Qin Nuo, with a stern face, shouted a few curses.
Hearing Qin Nuo's spirited response, Li Xiaodie seemed disappointed and turned away.
Soon, Qin Nuo finished his bath, dressed, dried his hair, and came out.
Li Xiaodie was still leaning against the door, smiling, "Brother, are you okay?"
"Shut up!" Qin Nuo glared at her.
Li Xiaodie's expression changed instantly, looking pitiful, pleading, "Brother, please help your sister with some homework?"
"Otherwise, the teacher will scold Xiaodie tomorrow."
Qin Nuo's mouth twitched, forcing a smile, "Really? Then what happens if you don't finish your homework for a few days?"
Li Xiaodie pursed her lips, "The teacher is fierce, will definitely hit Xiaodie."
"Then try hard, aim for the day the teacher beats you to death."
Li Xiaodie: "..."
After a moment of silence, Li Xiaodie turned and went back to her room.
Qin Nuo chuckled, this little girl thought she could play tricks on him?
If he went into her room, nothing good would come of it.
Li Xiaodie might look seven or eight, but her heart was very crafty, always wishing her brother dead.
And Li Xiaodong wasn't much better.
One was sneaky, the other blatant.
Back in his room, Qin Nuo took out the homework assigned today from his backpack and turned on the desk lamp.
Elementary school problems were no challenge for Qin Nuo.
Through the last class in the afternoon, he understood that completing the teacher's assignments not only avoided a scolding but also saved his life.
Who knows what those unpredictable teachers would do if the homework wasn't done?
While doing his homework, it wasn't long before the door opened, and his mother came in with a bowl of soup.
"Son, if there's too much homework, you can leave it for tomorrow. Don't overwork yourself, it's okay."
"Here, drink this soup first, to nourish yourself."
She placed the soup beside him, pulled up a chair, blew on it, and smiled, pushing it towards Qin Nuo's hand.
Qin Nuo looked up, "Got it, I'll drink it later. Mom, you should rest first."
It looked like black chicken soup, but who knows what it really was. The dinner dishes still made Qin Nuo feel nauseous.
"Drink it." His mother didn't intend to leave, her words were filled with affection but also carried an undeniable command.
Qin Nuo hesitated.
According to Li Xiaoming's attitude towards his mother, he was indeed obedient.
But as a rebellious teenager, he couldn't be too compliant. Maybe going against her a bit would suit Li Xiaoming's character?
Thinking this, Qin Nuo frowned, as if annoyed by the interruption, showing extreme irritation, "I said I'll drink it later, can I finish my homework first?"
"Why are you so annoying, always nagging?"
The atmosphere suddenly became silent.
Qin Nuo continued writing, actually paying attention to his mother's movements.
At first, she was calm.
Then, a terrifying ghost aura emanated from her.
Her well-maintained face twitched strangely, her mouth curling into a smile, eyes narrowing, "Child, be good."
"You better listen to your mother!"
Feeling the ghost aura, Qin Nuo's hair stood on end, his body trembling slightly.
He felt a pang of regret, "Damn, I guessed wrong, this is a minefield!"
His mother's narrowed eyes slowly opened, filled with intense coldness. Seeing her son unmoved, her face wrinkled, aged, and covered in spreading corpse spots.
As the dangerous aura filled the room, Qin Nuo suddenly picked up the bowl of soup, not caring if it was hot, and gulped it down without hesitation.
Gulp! Gulp!
He drank it all in one go, showing the empty bowl to his mother, smiling, "Mom, I was just joking. How could I not love your soup?"
"Don't worry, I'll finish this and go to bed. I'll keep a good routine, no need to worry."
The Blood-Eyed Ghost commented, "You really know how to bend and stretch..."
Hearing this, his mother's terrifying features disappeared, replaced by a doting smile. She patted Qin Nuo's head, "You scared mom, I thought you were rebelling, not liking my homemade soup!"
Qin Nuo laughed, "How could I? Rebellion or not, your son will always be your little cotton-padded jacket."
After saying this, Qin Nuo admired himself a bit.
To say it without blushing or skipping a beat.
"Truly mom's little treasure." His mother pinched Qin Nuo's cheek, picked up the bowl, and was about to leave when the door across the room opened.
Inside, Li Xiaodie and Li Xiaodong were watching intently...
What do you think?
